When to choose Square POS instead

We're not right for everyone. Here's when Square POS is the better pick:

  • You run a brick-and-mortar with Square hardware already deployed.
  • Your transactions are 90% in-person tap/chip, and you want POS hardware in the hands of staff.
  • You rely on Square's specific ecosystem (Appointments, Loyalty, Marketing).

Common questions

Square is free software. Why pay for anything?+

Square is free if you're only running basic payments. Add Payroll ($35+/mo), Appointments ($30+/mo), Marketing ($15+/mo), Team Management ($35+/user) and you're at $100-200/mo. Our $49 Pro includes equivalent functionality plus a website + CRM + AI.

Do I lose hardware integration?+

If you have Square Reader or Square Register hardware, yes — that's Square-proprietary. Tap to Pay on iPhone (Stripe) replaces most readers. For traditional POS hardware, keep Square for in-store and us for online + CRM.

Stripe vs Square processing fees?+

Virtual terminal (keyed) is identical: 3.5% + 15¢. Card-on-file is cheaper on Stripe (2.9%) vs Square (3.3%). In-person tap is identical. Plus our platform fee is tier-based: 1% Business, 0.5% Agency, 0% Enterprise.

Can I use both Square and Busy Firm?+

Yes. Many small businesses run Square for in-store POS and us for online/CRM/website. We import Square customer data; Square keeps the hardware flow.

What about Square Appointments / booking?+

Our AI generates booking flows per your needs (Cal.com embed or custom). Not as polished as Square Appointments out of the box, but fully customizable.
